The Professional Make-up Artists of Finland invites you to take part in the annual Finnish Make-up and Body Painting and Creative Look Championships. This year we have 4 different competitions.

Here is the information package needed for the competition.

Competitions will be held as usual at the I LOVE ME beauty & hair fair, at Helsinki Messukeskus.

This year we will be celebrating, because Body painting competition is turning 15 years old in Finland.

This year's Bodypainting theme is a fascinating, enchanting “Welcome to my world”. This category can be attended alone or as a group of two people. It will be held on Sunday 21th of October 2018.

Bodypainting category is open to all interested participants, from Finland and abroad.

Make-up competitions are Saturday 20th of October 2018.

There are two separate categories in the make-up championships held that day; one for students and one for professionals.

This year we decided to challenge professionals and students with same theme, which is “Time Travel”. These categories are open only to those living in Finland. Professional make-up category winner will be rewarded with a trip to Düsseldorf competition!

This year we will have with us new fantasy competition Helsinki Creative Look. Its new open fantasy competition for everyone. This competition gives opportunity make your own team, which can create the most spectacular fantasy character, taking into account all aspects of hair, make-up and costume. You can compete alone, two, or even three as a team. Assistants are not allowed. There is no actual theme in this competition, but an element!

This years element is “Feather”.

Helsinki Creative Look category is open to all interested participants, from Finland and abroad.

Helsinki Creative Look fantasy competition are in Saturday 20th of October 2018.

Deadline for the competition registration is 30th of September 2018.

• Make-up application
• Wig or hairpieces are allowed, has to applied in advance
• False lashes allowed, application has to be done during the competition
• All make-up application has to be done during the competition, nothing can be applied before the competition
• Hairstyling and Hair do´s can be done in advance
• Styling done in advance
• The whole ensemble has to support the make-up.
• Sketch / layout of the competition piece has to be displayed.
• Drag characters are allowed.

Group 2	Pro Make-up artist Series Finnish Championship competition 2018

• Prosthetics are allowed, pieces can be applied before the competition but they have to be colored during the competition.
• All of the make-up application has to be done during the competition, nothing can be done in advance.
• Hairstyling / hair do´s can be done in advance
• Wig or hairpieces are allowed, those have to applied in advance · False lashes are allowed, application has to be done during the competition.
• Outfit ensemble has to support the character, any and all props are allowed
• Sketch / layout of the competition piece has to be displayed
• Participants allowed     Professional make-up artists, beauticians and hairdressers / barbers.

The element : “Feather”

Elementti can be part of make-up, hairstyle or outfit/ costume and it can be in each (hair, makeup, costume) or even only one place.

Let your imagination tell you how you use this element in your fantasy character.

Three things are evaluated separately in this competition:

• Hair
• Make-up
• Costume / Outfit
• The total score of these gategories, will determine the winner(s).

Most important thing with your layout is, that do not put your name in it.

Because of new judge changes, some judges see just your character and layout and possible story behind.

We strongly recommend that you write max. 200 word story of your character.

Rules for hair:

All preliminary work is allowed before competition

• The hair must be brushed in the competition area, before you can start your fantasy hair.
• Models own hair must remain visible 1/3 in the fantasy hairstyle after hairpieces and props.
• Wigs are not allowed.
• Every artist brings their own products and accessories/props. Use only products which are safe and meant for hair.
• Hairstyle has to support the character make-up and costume.
• Sketch / layout of hairstyle has to be displayed with makeup and costume or separately.

• What ever you do, it has to support the character with hairstyle and costume.
• Sketch / layout of make-up has to be displayed with hair and costume or separately.
• Contact lenses are allowed.

Rules for costume/ outfit:

• What ever you do, it has to support the character with hairstyle and make-up. Remember the teamwork.
• At least 1/3 The model´s body has to be used with costume/outfit and or props.
• Use only products which are safe and meant for skin and body.
• Costume/ outfit must be ready when entering in competition area and model has to wear it. Props and all little things you can add during competition.
• Costume/ outfit can be your own design from start to end, or it could be bought clothes which you can create and style your models own look
• If you are planning to make or design hole costume / outfit by yourself, enter the competition by title: Designer
• If you are planning to use bought clothes or yourself styled clothes, enter the competition by title: Stylist
• You can also make or design characters jewellery for costume, hair and makeup and props. But it is not mandatory. Sketch / layout of costume/ outfit has to be displayed with hair and make-up or separately

Team of two:

You should make registration like this:

Name who is responsible of what, every area, makeup, hair and costume has to be named, so if you are competing team of two, other will have to be responsible of two areas.

Team of one:

You are responsible all three areas.

Group 4	Helsinki Bodypainting Competition 2018, open category

Participants	The competition is open to everyone!
The entry fee	85 euros

• Competition piece can be done alone, with an assistant or as a group of two artists
• Competition piece will be done on one model.
• Airbrush is allowed.
• Wig or hairpieces are allowed and can be applied in advance
• Prosthetics are allowed, pieces can be applied before the competition but they have to be coloured during the competition. No paint prior to the competition time.
• Minimum 3/4 of the model´s body has to be painted.
• Prosthetics, props / costumes can´t cover more than 1/4 of the body.
• All bodypaint and make-up has to be applied during the competition time, no make-up can be applied before the competition.
• Sketch / layout/ storyboard of the competition piece has to be displayed and available to the jury.

The competition places will be filled in order of the registration.

Competition places are limited in each category:

• Student category             20 Participants
• Professional category     20 Participants
• Bodypainting category    20 Participants
• Creative Look category 10 teams.
